Drug policy reform news

Howard Wooldridge is making great progress as he rides his horse Misty across the country to raise awareness about the failure of drug prohibition. He's having a good trip and is getting good media coverage too, according to his friend Norma, who is traveling with him and keeping a blog about the journey. The whole story is here.

Additionally: In response to the over reliance on incarceration and terrible costs of felony disenfranchisement in America, Family Members and Friends of People Incarcerated (FMI), a national association of concerned citizens, along with hundreds of community criminal justice organizations, are sponsoring The Journey for Justice, a social justice March on Washington, DC, August 13, 2005.

And finally, John Tierny's op-ed in the NYT today was about the DEA harassing pain docs. He didn't really say anything new, but it's good that the issue is getting discussed in the major media. Here's the site. The article is Handcuffs and Stethoscopes. (registration required)
